Minot State University

MSU's rich history begins in 1913 as a two-year normal school, dedicated to equipping educators for northwestern North Dakota. This foundational mission quickly expanded, leading to the institution's first baccalaureate degrees in 1924 and a subsequent name change to Minot State Teachers College. The school continued its growth and adaptation, playing a significant role during the Second World War by training nearly eight hundred officer candidates. This period of expansion and evolution culminated in its university status in 1987, solidifying its role as a key academic hub.

Through continuous expansion of its academic offerings, Minot State University moved beyond its initial focus to become Minot State College in 1964 and ultimately Minot State University.
