Minot State University, a vibrant public institution, traces its roots back to 1913 when it was established as a two-year normal school with a clear mission: to prepare dedicated teachers for the growing communities of northwestern North Dakota. Over the decades, Minot State has undergone a remarkable evolution. By 1924, it expanded its offerings to include baccalaureate degrees, leading to its renaming as Minot State Teachers College. During World War II, Minot State also played a crucial national role, training nearly eight hundred officer candidates as part of the V-12 Navy College Training Program, showcasing its adaptability and commitment to serving a greater purpose.
