Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) stands as a dynamic public institution dedicated to serving students across the Gulf Coast region. The college's rich history began on September 17, 1911, as the Harrison County Agricultural High School. Through a series of expansions and name changes, it transformed, first becoming a junior college in 1925 with the support of additional counties, and later forming the Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College District in 1962. This journey culminated in its current name in 1987, reflecting its comprehensive community college mission and its deep roots within the Gulf Coast community.

Academically, MGCCC is known for its practical, career-focused programs and innovative learning environments. The college boasts a "Community Campus," a unique campus without walls, offering flexible educational pathways. Furthermore, its commitment to vital professions is exemplified by the Bryant Center School of Nursing & Simulation Lab, opened in 2018, providing state-of-the-art training for future healthcare professionals.

The student experience at MGCCC is marked by a blend of historical significance and forward-thinking progress. The institution made history in 2006 by hosting President George W. Bush, the first sitting President to speak at a community college graduation. More recently, in 2020, the college demonstrated its commitment to modern values by renaming its Jefferson Davis Campus to the Harrison County Campus, showcasing its dedication to an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.
