This spirit of growth continued, leading to the formation of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College District in 1962 and further adding new campuses and centers. Its transformation into Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 1987 reflects its comprehensive offerings and deep integration into the community fabric. A significant historical moment occurred in 2006 when MGCCC hosted President George W. Bush, marking the first time a sitting U.S. President spoke at a community college graduation.
