Moorpark College, established in 1967 with the inspiring motto "Bridge to the Future," offers a dynamic educational experience for students aiming for transfer or career readiness. The college's roots run deep within the Ventura County community, stemming from a generous 134-acre land donation by the local Strathearn family and an $8 million bond passed by citizens in 1965 to fund its initial construction. Officially opening its doors in 1967 to nearly 1,400 students, Moorpark College quickly grew, doubling enrollment by the early 1970s under its second president. This period also saw an increased emphasis on preparing students for seamless transfer to four-year universities, a core strength that continues to define the institution.

Academically, Moorpark College boasts unique offerings like its renowned Exotic Animal Training and Management (EATM) program, established in 1973, which broke ground on a new state-of-the-art center in 2011 to house over 200 animals. Beyond its distinctive programs, the college provides robust preparation for transfer, with a significant number of students successfully moving on to universities. The campus is also home to impressive facilities, including the 6,000-seat Paul Griffin Jr. Stadium, the Charles Temple Observatory—the only public observatory in Ventura County—and the Carlsberg Amphitheater, enhancing both academic pursuits and student life.
