Mount Vernon Nazarene University

Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) is a private, co-educational institution built upon an evangelical Christian foundation. Guided by its inspiring motto, "To Seek to Learn is to Seek to Serve," MVNU is dedicated to fostering both academic excellence and a spirit of impactful service. Rooted in the Wesleyan-Arminian holiness tradition, the university embraces a holistic approach to education, aiming to develop students intellectually, spiritually, and professionally.

MVNU's journey began in 1964, chartered as the Zone A College of the Church of the Nazarene, and officially opened its doors in 1968 on the historic Lakeholm Farm. What started as a two-year junior college quickly grew, becoming a four-year institution in 1974 and earning university status in 2002. The campus itself holds a unique charm, incorporating original 18th-century buildings from the former Lakeholm Farm, once the estate of U.S. Secretary of the Interior, Columbus Delano.

Academically, MVNU offers a broad spectrum of programs, from associate's to bachelor's, master's, and its first fully accredited doctoral program in Nursing Practice launched in 2024. A standout feature is the Graduate and Professional Studies Program (GPS), designed specifically for non-traditional learners. This robust online platform serves nearly 800 students, providing flexible pathways to degrees in fields like business, social work, leadership, education, and ministry, ensuring education is accessible to a diverse student body.
