Muskegon Community College

Muskegon Community College (MCC) stands as a beacon of educational opportunity in West Michigan, offering a robust array of 49 associate degree and 33 certificate programs designed to prepare students for both transfer to four-year institutions and immediate career entry. Situated on a sprawling 111-acre main campus in Muskegon, with additional extension centers in Ottawa and Newaygo counties, MCC is deeply embedded in its community, providing accessible and high-quality learning experiences.

Established in 1926 as Muskegon Junior College, it was a pioneering endeavor, being one of only five two-year institutions in Michigan at the time. The college has a rich history of adapting to community needs, famously transforming into Muskegon Community College in 1951 to broaden its scope beyond just transfer programs to include vital vocational, technical, public health, and trade courses. This expansion solidified its commitment to serving a wider variety of interests and preparing individuals for specific fields of employment after just two years of training.

MCC's commitment to innovation is evident in its Alden B. Dow designed facility, opened in 1967, and more recently, its 2010 Outdoor Learning Lab, a focal point for green technology and the home of its Alternative and Renewable Energy certificate program. Students also benefit from the Stevenson Center for Higher Education, which facilitates increased access to bachelor's degree programs through a consortium with Ferris State University, Grand Valley State University, and Western Michigan University, truly making MCC a comprehensive stepping stone for future success.
