National Park College, a dynamic public community college founded in 2003, stands as a beacon for learning in Arkansas. NPC's history is rooted in a significant merger, bringing together the legacies of Garland County Community College (established in 1973) and Quapaw Technical Institute (established in 1969). This union created a stronger, more comprehensive institution. A testament to its growing influence and community support, the college received a historic $1.5 million donation in 2006—the largest cash gift ever to an Arkansas community college—earmarked specifically for a state-of-the-art nursing and health sciences facility, significantly bolstering its health programs.

The college is committed to academic excellence and community engagement. Beyond its strengthened health sciences, NPC boasts a unique joint program in early-childhood and middle-school teaching with Henderson State University, providing seamless pathways for aspiring educators. Demonstrating its deep commitment to service, NPC notably assisted students displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, providing support and continuity during a time of crisis. While its predecessor, Garland County Community College, faced a censure from the American Association of University Professors in 1994—which remains in place—NPC continues to evolve, focusing on student success and responsive education.
