The National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) stands as a beacon in natural healthcare education, proudly holding the distinction of being North America's oldest programmatically accredited naturopathic medical school. Established in 1956, NUNM was founded by visionary members of the naturopathic profession who sought to preserve and advance this vital field of medicine, particularly following the discontinuation of a program at Western States Chiropractic College.

From its origins in Portland, Oregon, NUNM quickly grew, at one point operating satellite campuses before unifying its operations in Portland. The institution acquired its current historic downtown campus in 1996, relocating classes to a building originally constructed in 1912.
