The National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) stands as a beacon for natural health education, proudly bearing the motto, 'The profession's college since 1956.' NUNM's roots trace back to the early 1950s, emerging from a need to continue naturopathic education when other programs ceased. Founded in May 1956 in Portland, originally as the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, its establishment was a concerted effort by leaders in the naturopathic profession from across the Pacific Northwest. Over the years, the institution grew, consolidating its satellite campuses in Portland to create a unified educational experience. In 1996, the college moved to its current historic downtown Portland campus, a building rich in history that has served the community since 1912.

Today, under the leadership of President Melanie Henriksen, NUNM continues its tradition of excellence with a dedicated student body of 575. The university is renowned for its comprehensive curriculum in natural medicine, offering hands-on clinical education within its on-campus NUNM Clinic, which consolidated in 2009.
