New River Community and Technical College

Its unique history traces back to 2003, when it was established through a legislative mandate (HB 2224, refined by SB 448) that strategically combined the community and technical college components of Bluefield State College and Glenville State College. This foundational act created a new institution specifically designed to serve the diverse educational demands of a wide area, including nine counties across the state.

Students at New River CTC benefit from a flexible and distributed learning environment, with its main campus and central administration located in Beaver, alongside additional campuses in Princeton, Lewisburg, and Summersville. This multi-campus approach ensures that quality education is within reach for residents of Fayette, Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Summers, and Webster Counties, among others. Furthermore, specialized facilities like the Advanced Technology Center in Ghent and the One Room University in Marlinton enhance the practical, hands-on learning experiences available.
