New Saint Andrews College

New Saint Andrews College, established in 1994, offers a distinctive private college experience deeply rooted in a classical, faith-based education. Beginning with just four students, this institution quickly carved out a unique niche, appealing to a diverse group of "conservatives, old-fashioned liberals, and people of faith" who seek a rigorous academic environment informed by traditional values. It fosters a close-knit community for its 221 students, providing an intimate setting where intellectual and spiritual growth are paramount.

The college’s journey began humbly, quickly growing to graduate its first students in 1998. It strategically established its home in historic downtown Moscow, Idaho, acquiring and revitalizing significant local landmarks, most notably the Skattaboe Block, built in 1892. This commitment to both its academic mission and its physical presence in a vibrant community has garnered national attention, with features on the Christian Broadcasting Network in 2006 and in The New York Times Magazine in 2007. Its recognition by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute as a top school for its ideological alignment further underscores its unique position in higher education.

Under the leadership of President Benjamin R. Merkle, who took the helm in 2014, New Saint Andrews College continues to evolve. Demonstrating its commitment to expanding academic and artistic opportunities, the college purchased a second downtown building with plans to develop it into a music conservatory, a significant expansion approved by the city in 2017.
