New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts

The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts (NYCDA) stands as a private drama school with a rich history, dedicated to molding aspiring actors for careers in film, television, and musical theater. Founded in 1980 by Joan See, a direct student of the legendary Sanford Meisner, NYCDA began as Actors in Advertising and evolved through the School for Film and Television (SFT) to become the institution known today. Its enduring motto, "Developing Actors the Industry Wants To Work With Since 1980," reflects a consistent commitment to practical, industry-focused training.

NYCDA's academic strengths are rooted in its specialized associate degree programs. Since 2013, the conservatory has offered an Associate Degree in Film & Television Performance, preparing students with the nuanced skills required for on-camera work. Further expanding its offerings, NYCDA launched a two-year Associate Degree in Musical Theater Performance in 2018, catering to triple-threat performers. This commitment to educational excellence is underscored by its accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Theatre, received in 1995.
