Nicolet Area Technical College

Nicolet Area Technical College stands as a vibrant public community college nestled in the scenic Northwoods of Wisconsin. The college's rich history began in 1967 with the official creation of the Nicolet College District. Building on this foundation, classes commenced swiftly in January 1968, marking the dawn of a new era for regional education. This period of rapid growth saw college officials strategically acquire 280 acres just south of Rhinelander, envisioning and developing what would become the picturesque Lake Julia Campus.

Even as its permanent home was being built, Nicolet College demonstrated an unwavering dedication to its community. While the Science Center, now known as the University Student Center, was under construction between 1969 and 1970, early classes were held in downtown Rhinelander. This commitment to continuous learning from day one has remained a hallmark of the institution.
