Nicolet Area Technical College

Nestled in the heart of Northern Wisconsin, Nicolet Area Technical College stands as a vital public community college, dedicated to empowering its 2,000 students with practical skills and knowledge. The college's history is rooted in a clear vision for local education, beginning with the creation of the Nicolet College District in 1967. Just a year later, in January 1968, the first classes commenced, initially making their home in temporary facilities in downtown Rhinelander. This early ambition quickly led to the strategic purchase of 280 acres, setting the stage for what would become the expansive Lake Julia Campus, designed to serve the community for generations.

Construction of the campus began swiftly, with the Science Center, now known as the University Student Center, being the inaugural building erected between 1969 and 1970. Today, the campus thrives, with facilities like the Red Oak Center serving as the welcoming hub for students, offering essential services and support. As a public community college, Nicolet's mission revolves around providing accessible, career-focused education that directly addresses the workforce needs of the Nicolet Area, preparing its diverse student body for immediate professional success and continued personal growth.
