About North American University

North American University: Cultivating global competence through innovation and a diverse community.

North American University (NAU) stands as a testament to modern higher education, embodying its inspiring motto: "Inspiration. Innovation. Global Competence." As a private university, NAU is dedicated to fostering an environment where students are empowered to achieve their full potential and contribute meaningfully to a globalized world. From its humble beginnings to its current status as a vibrant academic institution, NAU focuses on delivering quality education that prepares students for success.

NAU's journey began in April 2007 as the Texas Gulf Institute, initially offering certificate programs. Its significant growth trajectory saw a pivotal moment in July 2010 when it received approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to offer bachelor's degree programs. This expansion led to a name change to North American College (NAC). By the 2010-11 academic year, the burgeoning institution had moved into a new, dedicated administrative and educational building, signaling its rapid development and commitment to providing a robust learning environment.

The university celebrated a significant milestone in May 2013 with its first commencement, proudly graduating twelve students—nine with bachelor's degrees in business administration and three in interdisciplinary studies in education. Later that fall, the institution officially adopted its current name, North American University. Today, NAU is a dynamic educational hub, serving over 800 students across its ESL, bachelor's, and master's degree programs, drawing a rich tapestry of students from more than 33 U.S. states and over 54 countries, truly reflecting its commitment to global competence.
