About North Georgia Technical College

North Georgia Technical College: Pioneering vocational education amidst the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains.

Nestled in the picturesque North Georgia mountains, North Georgia Technical College stands as a beacon of vocational and technical education, deeply rooted in a history of serving the community's workforce needs. From its origins on a campus that once housed an A&M school and supported Great Depression-era programs, NGTC has consistently adapted to provide essential occupational training for Georgians.

Its journey began in earnest with the establishment of a state vocational division in 1943, leading to the acceptance of its first student in 1944. Over the decades, the institution evolved through several name changes, reflecting its growing scope and commitment to comprehensive technical training. This rich history culminates in its current status as a technical college, providing cutting-edge education in a breathtaking natural setting.

For prospective students and families, NGTC offers more than just education; it provides a unique student experience. The Clarkesville Campus spans 339 acres amidst a beautiful mountain backdrop, while the Blairsville Campus, opened in 1998, boasts a modern, 45,000+ square foot facility with dramatic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This commitment to accessible, high-quality technical instruction, including state-of-the-art facilities, ensures students are well-prepared for successful careers while enjoying a vibrant campus life in a truly inspiring location.
