North Greenville University

North Greenville University (NGU) stands as a distinctive private college rooted in its motto, "Christ Makes the Difference." Since its founding in 1891, NGU has cultivated a vibrant academic community, currently serving 2,125 students with a clear focus on integrating faith into all aspects of learning and campus life, preparing students to impact the world for Christ.

NGU's journey began as North Greenville High School in 1892, established to broaden educational access in the mountainous northern portion of Greenville County. Over its extensive history, it evolved through several pivotal transformations: becoming a junior college in 1934, gaining two-year college accreditation in 1957, and expanding to a four-year institution in 1992. This steady growth culminated in its renaming to North Greenville University in 2006, marking its ability to offer master's degree programs.

Today, NGU offers a wide array of bachelor's degree programs across fields like Christian studies, church music, teacher education, English, History, Psychology, Business, Criminal Justice, Biology, and more. The university's commitment to its founding principles extends to its student experience, shaped by its faith-based policies, including a 2015 Title IX exception that permits upholding specific conduct standards aligned with its beliefs, such as prohibiting homosexual acts and all sex outside of marriage, ensuring an environment consistent with its Christian mission.
