Northeast Community College

Northeast Community College stands as a testament to educational evolution, forged from the legacies of two distinct institutions to become a cornerstone for accessible, career-focused learning in Nebraska. The college's unique history began as two separate entities: Northeastern Nebraska College, founded in 1928, and Northeast Nebraska Technical College, founded in 1967. A pivotal moment arrived in 1971 when the Nebraska State Legislature's vision for eight technical community colleges paved the way for their formal merger on July 1, 1973, forming Northeast Technical Community College. This foundation marked the beginning of a unified effort to deliver comprehensive education, later evolving into its current identity in 1991 when "technical" was removed from its name, reflecting its broader academic scope.

Northeast Community College is committed to providing practical, high-quality education. A standout example of its academic strength is the J. Paul and Eleanor McIntosh College of Nursing, established in 2010 in a significant partnership with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, offering a robust pathway into healthcare careers. The college continually enhances the student experience through strategic campus expansions, including a joint campus with Wayne State College in South Sioux City (2005) and an education wing in West Point (2008).
