Northeast Community College

What began as two distinct institutions—Northeastern Nebraska College, established in 1928, and Northeast Nebraska Technical College, founded in 1967—has grown into a dynamic college dedicated to fostering student success. The official merger of its foundational colleges in 1973 was a direct result of a Nebraska State Legislature bill passed in 1971, which paved the way for the creation of eight technical community colleges across the state. This pivotal moment solidified Northeast's role in providing crucial technical and community-focused education. Further demonstrating its adaptability, the institution rebranded in 1991 to Northeast Community College, reflecting a broader educational scope and commitment beyond just technical fields.

Academically, Northeast Community College boasts strong partnerships and specialized programs designed to launch students into successful careers. A prime example is the J. Paul and Eleanor McIntosh College of Nursing, established in 2010 through a significant collaboration with the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
