What began in 1919 as the Miami School of Mines, established by Oklahoma Senate Bill 225, swiftly evolved to meet changing regional needs. By 1924, recognizing the diminished importance of mining, it transitioned into Northeastern Oklahoma Junior College, broadening its academic scope.
