Northwestern Michigan College

Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) stands as a vital public community college in Traverse City, Michigan, offering a rich array of educational opportunities. The college began its journey with humble origins, holding its first classes on September 17, 1951, in a borrowed building at Cherry Capital Airport, serving an initial cohort of 65 students. By 1956, NMC had found its permanent home, relocating to a dedicated parcel in Traverse City, setting the stage for decades of growth and community impact.
