Northwood University stands as a distinctive private institution dedicated to shaping entrepreneurial leaders for the dynamic world of business. Founded in 1959 as Northwood Institute in Alma, Michigan, the university quickly established its commitment to practical, business-focused education, relocating to Midland, Michigan, in 1961 to further its vision. Its journey of growth saw the establishment of multiple campuses across the U.S., including Indiana, Texas, and Florida, and by 1982, it achieved accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission, solidifying its academic standing.

In 1993, a pivotal moment arrived with its renaming to Northwood University and the creation of The DeVos Graduate School of Management, signaling an expanded academic scope. The university's entrepreneurial spirit extended globally, launching its first international venture in 2001 with a joint program in Switzerland, followed by program centers in Bahrain, China, and Sri Lanka.
