Oakton's main campus in Des Plaines offers a breathtaking learning environment, situated on 147 acres of woodlands and prairie. Here, a modern, 435,000 square-foot red-brick building houses 65 classrooms, 46 cutting-edge educational laboratories, and a wealth of student services. Specialized facilities include an Automotive Technology Lab, a Performing Arts Center, the Business Institute, and the unique William A. Koehnline Museum of Art. The campus is designed to foster a comprehensive student experience, complete with a Child Care Center, gym, fitness center, library, and bookstore.
Complementing the Des Plaines campus, the Skokie campus holds a rich history, occupying the site of the former Niles East High School, an art deco landmark featured in classic films like "Sixteen Candles" and "Risky Business." This blend of historical charm and modern educational focus truly sets Oakton apart. The college has also invested significantly in its future, notably with the $39 million Margaret Burke Lee Science and Health Careers Center, a 93,000 square-foot addition opened in 2015. This facility underscores Oakton's dedication to health and sciences, featuring sustainable design with self-shading windows that provide natural light to 75 percent of its classrooms.
