Ocean County College

Ocean County College stands as a cornerstone of accessible higher education in New Jersey, serving the community with dedication and an unwavering commitment to student success. As a vital component of the state's educational landscape, OCC provides an essential entry point for individuals seeking quality instruction, career advancement, and a seamless transition to four-year institutions.

Its roots trace back to a pivotal moment in New Jersey's educational history. Following the enactment of the County College Act in 1962, which empowered counties to establish their own colleges with state support, Ocean County College was brought into existence. A successful public referendum in 1963 paved the way for its official establishment by the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders in January 1964, with the first classes welcoming students in the fall of the same year.

Today, Ocean County College continues its mission under the leadership of President Pamela Monaco, who took office in July 2023, succeeding Jon H. Larson. The institution remains dedicated to fostering an environment where students can thrive, build foundational academic skills, and pursue their personal and professional aspirations within a supportive and engaging community.
