The college's journey began in April 1971 as Skills Center North, opening its doors to just 100 adult students eager to learn new job skills. Over the decades, it has undergone significant evolution, first becoming part of Weber State College in 1975, then moving under the Utah State Office of Education as the Ogden-Weber Area Vocational Center in 1982. Its consistent growth necessitated a move to its present-day campus in 1984. Through various name changes, including Ogden-Weber Applied Technology Center and Ogden–Weber Applied Technology College, it consistently expanded its offerings and impact, culminating in its current identity as Ogden–Weber Technical College and an independent member of the Utah System of Technical Colleges since 2017.
