About Ogeechee Technical College

Ogeechee Tech empowers students with practical skills and career-focused education.

Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) stands as a beacon of practical education and career preparation in Bulloch County and the surrounding region. Conceived with the vision of providing vital job training and educational opportunities, OTC is dedicated to equipping students with the hands-on skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today's workforce. From its foundational mission to its ongoing expansion, the college prioritizes programs that directly address community needs and prepare graduates for immediate impact.

The story of Ogeechee Technical College began in 1987 as Ogeechee Technical Institute, an initiative championed by State Senator Joe Kennedy. His commitment to local empowerment through education quickly led to the establishment of the institution by the Georgia General Assembly. Within just two years, the institute expanded its community role by taking responsibility for Adult Literacy across its service area, demonstrating its broad dedication to educational access. A significant milestone arrived in 1989 with the launch of its first credited program, Practical Nursing, which welcomed an initial class of twenty-five students and set the precedent for career-focused academic offerings.

The 1990s marked a period of rapid development and increased capacity for Ogeechee Tech. A new facility completed in 1990 allowed for a substantial expansion of course offerings by spring 1991. The growth continued through the decade, culminating in 1999 with the grand opening of three state-of-the-art buildings: a dedicated Health Sciences building, a specialized Horticulture building, and a Childcare facility, further broadening its program scope. This impressive evolution culminated in 2000 when the institution officially transitioned from an institute to Ogeechee Technical College, reflecting its comprehensive growth and academic maturity. Today, OTC proudly maintains its commitment to excellence under state program standards, solidifying its place as a vital educational hub.
