About Ogeechee Technical College

Ogeechee Tech: Your pathway to skilled careers and a brighter future in Georgia.

Ogeechee Technical College stands as a vital pillar for workforce development and adult education in Bulloch County and the surrounding areas of Georgia. Born from the vision of State Senator Joe Kennedy, Ogeechee Tech is dedicated to equipping individuals with the practical skills and knowledge needed to excel in high-demand careers. It's a place where aspirations are nurtured, and professional journeys begin, offering comprehensive technical training and crucial adult literacy programs.

The institution’s journey began in 1987 as Ogeechee Technical Institute, established by the Georgia General Assembly with a clear mission to educate and train the local populace. Its commitment to community well-being quickly expanded; by 1989, it assumed responsibility for Adult Literacy throughout its service area, demonstrating its holistic approach to education. That same year marked a significant academic milestone with the launch of its first credited program, Practical Nursing, serving an initial cohort of twenty-five students.

Ogeechee Tech has consistently grown to meet the needs of its students and the regional economy. A new main facility was completed in 1990, paving the way for a broader range of course offerings by spring 1991. The late 1990s saw substantial expansion, with the opening of three new buildings in 1999 dedicated to Health Sciences, Horticulture, and Childcare, reflecting the college's diverse program portfolio. Officially becoming Ogeechee Technical College in 2000, it stands proudly as the 14th largest among Georgia’s 33 technical institutes, all operating under rigorous state program standards, ensuring a high-quality, relevant education for every student.
