Olivet Nazarene University

Olivet Nazarene University stands as a testament to enduring educational vision and resilient growth, evolving from humble beginnings into a comprehensive Christian institution. The university's rich history begins in 1907 with Miss Mary Nesbitt's Grammar School in Georgetown, Illinois. It quickly grew, moving to the village of Olivet in 1908 and chartering as Illinois Holiness University in 1909. A pivotal moment came in 1912 when it was given to the Church of the Nazarene, embedding its deep Christian roots. Over the years, the institution demonstrated remarkable perseverance, navigating financial challenges, including bankruptcy in 1926, and overcoming a devastating fire in 1939 that prompted a crucial move to a larger 42-acre campus in 1940. This period of change also saw several name modifications, ultimately leading to its designation as Olivet Nazarene University in 1986.

Academically, Olivet Nazarene University is structured into seven distinct units, offering a wide spectrum of programs to cater to diverse interests and career paths.
