Orion Technical College

Orion Technical College, formerly Hamilton Technical College, has been a cornerstone of career-focused education since its founding in 1969. With the motto "To educate for a rewarding career," the institution is dedicated to providing practical, hands-on training that prepares students for immediate entry into rewarding professions. Initially known as the Academy of Radio and Television (A.R.T.), the college has a rich history of adapting and expanding its curriculum to meet evolving industry demands, starting with FCC exam preparation and broadcasting.

Over the decades, Orion Technical College has significantly diversified its offerings. In 1978, it evolved into A.R.T. Technical College by adding an Electronics program, quickly followed by an Associates degree in Electronics Engineering Technology attainable in just 18 months. The 1980s and 90s saw further expansion under the Hamilton Technical College name, introducing programs like Aviation Maintenance Technology, Computer Information Systems through the Hamilton Institute of Business, Computer-Aided Drafting, and Medical Assisting Technology, demonstrating a continuous commitment to a broad range of technical and vocational fields.

Today, Orion Technical College is renowned for its academic strengths in electronics engineering technology, offering both Associate and Bachelor of Science Degrees. Additionally, it provides diplomas in critical healthcare support roles such as medical assisting technology and medical insurance coding and billing. The college emphasizes a robust student experience, enhanced by state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including CNC Lathes, Industrial Robotics, and advanced computer testing gear housed in its renovated Advanced Electronics Center, ensuring students learn with the tools used in today's industries.

The institution entered a new chapter in 2020 with its rebranding to Orion Technical College and the establishment of a sister campus, the Orion Institute, in Toledo, Ohio. This continued growth, including a move to a larger facility in Davenport in 2021, underscores its enduring mission to empower students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for successful careers.
