Pasco-Hernando State College

Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) stands as a vital public institution within the Florida College System, dedicated to expanding educational opportunities across Pasco and Hernando counties. Serving nearly 10,000 students, PHSC has evolved significantly, transitioning from a community college to a state college offering comprehensive baccalaureate programs, demonstrating its commitment to higher education and workforce development in the region.

Established in 1967 by the Florida Legislature, PHSC first opened its doors to students in 1972. A pivotal moment in its history occurred in 2014 when, after announcing plans to broaden its academic scope to include four-year degrees, the institution officially changed its name to Pasco–Hernando State College. This transformation marked a new era, alongside strategic campus expansions, including the modern Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch in Wesley Chapel, enhancing accessibility for students across its service area.

Academically, PHSC is at the forefront of career-focused education. The college launched its state-of-the-art Institute for Nursing and Allied Health Advancement and a dedicated Workforce Development Center in 2024, underscoring its commitment to preparing students for high-demand professions.
