Peninsula College

Peninsula College stands as a testament to local determination, founded in 1961 by a group of citizens who envisioned accessible higher education for their community, eliminating the need to travel to distant college centers. From its humble beginnings on the Port Angeles High School campus, the college quickly outgrew its initial facilities, reflecting the immense local demand for quality learning opportunities.

Responding to this burgeoning need, construction of a permanent, dedicated campus commenced in 1964. Just a year later, in 1965, the first classes were proudly held on what would become the college's sprawling 75-acre main campus in Southeast Port Angeles. This rapid expansion underscores Peninsula College's commitment to growth and its role as a vital educational hub, providing pathways to academic and professional success close to home.

Today, the campus is a vibrant educational environment, boasting 15 modern buildings that facilitate diverse academic programs. A unique and significant feature is the first Longhouse ever built on a community college campus in the United States, a symbol of cultural inclusivity and a welcoming space for all students. Beyond its main site, Peninsula College continues to serve its broader community by offering additional classes across its service district, ensuring that educational opportunities remain within reach for many.
