Peninsula College

Nestled in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Peninsula College stands as a beacon of community-driven education, distinguished by its unique commitment to local learners. What truly sets it apart is its pioneering spirit, notably housing the first Longhouse ever built on a community college campus in the United States, a testament to its innovative approach to cultural and educational inclusivity.

The college's origins trace back to the determined efforts of local citizens in 1961. These visionary individuals sought to provide accessible higher education closer to home, eliminating the need for students to embark on long journeys to distant college centers. What began with classes held in a modest building on the Port Angeles High School campus quickly outgrew its initial confines, demonstrating an immediate and robust demand for its offerings.

This rapid growth spurred significant development, leading to the commencement of construction for a permanent campus in 1964. By 1965, Peninsula College proudly opened its doors on its current sprawling 75-acre site in Southeast Port Angeles. Today, this vibrant main campus boasts 15 buildings, continuously serving its community with a diverse range of educational opportunities, including additional classes offered across its broad service district, reinforcing its founding mission of local accessibility and academic excellence.
