Pentecostal Theological Seminary

Pentecostal Theological Seminary, founded in 1975 with the inspiring motto "Your Ministry is Our Mission," stands as a pivotal institution dedicated to graduate theological education. This private seminary serves 565 students, embodying its commitment to nurturing spiritual leaders within the rich tradition of Pentecostal faith and practice. The seminary's journey began with an earnest desire within its denomination for a graduate school of ministerial training, a vision that materialized when it received its charter from the state of Tennessee in 1975. Opening its doors as the Church of God Graduate School of Christian Ministries, it commenced with a modest but determined cohort of eighteen students, initially offering the Master of Science in Religion and Master of Arts in Religion degrees. From renovated apartment buildings, it quickly demonstrated its essential role, growing to twenty-eight students in its second term and celebrating its first graduates in 1976.

Growth and expansion have been hallmarks of PTS. After acquiring property in 1979, the seminary moved into a purpose-built facility in 1980, marking a significant milestone in its development. Further enhancements, such as the addition of the Curtsinger Ministry Center in 1995, doubled its academic footprint, while student housing like Hamilton Court reinforced its commitment to a holistic student experience. Students also benefit from shared resources like the Squires Library and the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center, fostering a robust environment for scholarship and discovery.

The institution's evolving identity is reflected in its name changes over the decades, culminating in its current designation as Pentecostal Theological Seminary in 2004-2005. This strategic shift broadened its appeal and affirmed its dedication to serving the wider Pentecostal movement globally. Today, PTS remains a dynamic center, preparing a diverse body of students not just for pulpits, but for impactful leadership in every facet of ministry, education, and community service around the world.
