Pentecostal Theological Seminary

Pentecostal Theological Seminary (PTS), founded in 1975, stands as a vibrant hub for graduate-level ministerial training, deeply rooted in the Pentecostal tradition. With a guiding motto, "Your Ministry is Our Mission," PTS is dedicated to equipping the next generation of spiritual leaders to serve churches and communities worldwide. Under the leadership of President Michael L. Baker, the seminary fosters a dynamic academic and spiritual environment for its 565 students, ensuring they are well-prepared for diverse ministerial callings.

The journey of PTS began in the 1960s with a clear vision for a denominational seminary, culminating in its establishment in 1975 as the Church of God Graduate School of Christian Ministries. Initially offering Master of Science and Master of Arts in Religion degrees from a renovated apartment building in Cleveland, Tennessee, the institution quickly grew. Its first commencement in 1976 saw five graduates, signaling the beginning of a profound legacy in theological education. This early growth led to the authorization for property acquisition in 1979 and a move into a purpose-built facility in 1980, marking a significant step in its development.

Over the years, PTS has expanded its physical footprint and broadened its reach. The addition of the Curtsinger Ministry Center in 1995 significantly enhanced its academic capacity, doubling its space, while Hamilton Court and other properties provide essential student housing. The seminary's name has evolved through several iterations – from Church of God School of Theology (1978) to Church of God Theological Seminary (1997) – reflecting its rising accreditation levels. Its current name, Pentecostal Theological Seminary (adopted 2004-2005), underscores its commitment to serving the wider Pentecostal movement, attracting a diverse body of students eager to deepen their faith and prepare for impactful service. Shared resources, such as the Squires Library and the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center with Lee University, further enrich the student experience.
