Providence Christian College

Providence Christian College, founded in 2002, established itself as a distinctive private liberal arts institution on the West Coast, deeply committed to a Reformed biblical perspective. Operating under the motto "In Christo Omnia Nova" (In Christ All Things New), the college meticulously integrated a Christian worldview into all facets of its academic and campus life. While not formally tied to a specific denomination, Providence adhered rigorously to key Presbyterian and Reformed confessional standards, providing a solid theological bedrock for its comprehensive educational approach.

The college's genesis stemmed from decades of dialogue among those advocating for a Reformed Christian college in the West. Following its incorporation in 2002, Providence quickly acquired and began renovating a campus in Ontario, California. In 2010, it moved to Pasadena, sharing facilities with William Carey International University amidst the scenic San Gabriel Mountains. This period saw the college flourish, offering a vibrant academic environment complemented by a substantial and carefully curated library collection designed to support in-depth scholarship.

Students at Providence benefited from impressive academic resources, including approximately 12,000 physical volumes, 100 periodical subscriptions, and an extensive digital library comprising 5,500 online periodicals, 2,500 electronic books, and 52 scholarly databases. These resources provided the essential tools for rigorous inquiry within its liberal arts curriculum. Although Providence Christian College is scheduled to conclude its operations at the end of the 2025-26 academic year due to various challenges, its legacy remains that of a dedicated institution providing a uniquely Christian liberal arts education.

After another move in December 2018 to Old Town Pasadena, adjacent to Fuller Theological Seminary, the college continued its mission. Despite its eventual closure, Providence Christian College played a significant role in providing an education that sought to renew all things in Christ, leaving a lasting impact on its students and the broader Reformed community.
