What started with fewer than 200 students and a graduating class of just eight, quickly adapted and grew. The institution embraced its local heritage, renaming itself Quinnipiac College in 1951 after the indigenous Quinnipiac tribe. Over the decades, it expanded its offerings and campus footprint, eventually moving to its picturesque Hamden location in 1966 and beginning to offer master's degrees in the 1970s, marking its transformation into a modern university.
