Red Rocks Community College: A vibrant public hub for over 14,000 students in Colorado.
Embark on your educational journey at Red Rocks Community College, a thriving public institution at the heart of Colorado's community college system. Serving over 14,000 students, RRCC provides an accessible and dynamic learning environment, making quality higher education attainable for a diverse range of learners across its two vibrant campuses.
The foundation of Red Rocks Community College dates back to 1969, initially established as a component of the larger Community College of Denver. From its humble beginnings at a temporary location, the vision for a permanent campus soon took shape. Significant legislative appropriations paved the way for construction, with the groundbreaking in 1971 and the initial phase completed by 1973, culminating in a fully connected Lakewood campus by 1975.
A pivotal moment arrived on July 1, 1983, when the Red Rocks campus proudly gained its independence, officially becoming Red Rocks Community College. This milestone marked its dedicated commitment to serving its community. Further demonstrating its growth and reach, RRCC expanded its footprint by opening a second campus in Arvada in 1990, extending its educational opportunities even wider. Today, under the leadership of its tenth president, Dr. Landon Pirius, who assumed duties in March 2024, RRCC continues to evolve, empowering its students to achieve their academic and professional aspirations.
