Robert Morris University

Founded in 1921 as the Pittsburgh School of Accountancy, Robert Morris University has a rich history of adaptation and growth. Named after Robert Morris, the "financier of the American Revolution," the institution quickly expanded beyond its initial focus on accounting, incorporating business and secretarial studies by 1935. This early expansion laid the groundwork for its transformation into a comprehensive institution dedicated to preparing students for a changing world.

The university's physical footprint and academic offerings grew significantly over the decades. What began in Downtown Pittsburgh soon established a picturesque Moon Township campus in 1962, initially operating as a junior college before evolving into Robert Morris College in 1969 with the introduction of bachelor's degrees in business administration. This period marked a crucial pivot towards broader undergraduate education.

Robert Morris continued its ascent through the ranks of higher education, introducing its first master's programs in 1978 and pioneering doctoral programs by 1999.
