Rose State College

Rose State College, a public community college founded in 1970, stands as a cornerstone of accessible higher education in Oklahoma. Originally established as Oscar Rose Junior College in honor of a respected school superintendent, the institution quickly became a vital resource for Midwest City, Del City, and parts of Oklahoma City after local voters approved its creation in 1968. From its very first classes in September 1970, Rose State has been dedicated to serving its community. This dedication led to its evolution into a key member of The Oklahoma State System of Higher Education in 1973 and its official renaming to Rose State College in 1983, reflecting its expanding scope and impact.

Over the decades, Rose State College has continuously invested in its academic offerings and facilities to meet student demand. The college boasts strong programs, particularly in health sciences, evidenced by the popularity of its dental hygiene and dental assistant programs, which led to the construction of the modern Health Sciences Annex. Beyond academics, students benefit from a dynamic campus featuring 22 buildings spread across 116 acres, including a Communication Center that enriches campus life with art, music, journalism, and performance spaces, ensuring a well-rounded and engaging student experience.
