Salina Area Technical College

Salina Area Technical College stands as a beacon for students seeking a direct path to a rewarding career, offering practical, hands-on education designed to meet the demands of today's workforce. With a rich history of fostering skilled professionals, Salina Tech is known for its focused technical programs that equip students with tangible skills and real-world experience, making it an ideal choice for prospective students and families looking for career-ready education.

The college's journey began in 1965, opening its doors on the historic Schilling Air Force Base with a modest enrollment of 189 students across nine specialized programs. For over four decades, it operated as the Salina Area Vocational Technical School, an integral part of the Salina School District. This foundational period solidified its commitment to vocational training and community service.

A significant transformation occurred in 2008 when Salina Tech gained independence, evolving into the robust technical college it is today. This independence allowed for greater agility and responsiveness to industry needs, propelling its growth and enhancing its offerings. The college's commitment to quality education was further recognized with accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission in 2016, assuring students and employers of its high standards.

Salina Tech's dedication to student success is evident in its remarkable growth. The college has seen a substantial increase in enrollment, growing to nearly 800 students by Fall 2019—a significant 69 percent increase in just five years—and currently serving 1007 students. This upward trajectory underscores its appeal and effectiveness in delivering relevant, high-quality technical education in a supportive and engaging environment.
