Sampson Community College

Sampson Community College stands as a cornerstone of accessible education, proudly serving approximately 2,000 students as a vibrant public community college. The institution's journey began modestly in September 1965, when it was initially established as an extension unit of the Goldsboro Industrial Education Center (now Wayne Community College). This foundational period laid the groundwork for its future independence and solidified its mission to serve the educational needs of Sampson County.

A pivotal moment arrived in 1967 when SCC officially broke away to become an independent entity, initially known as Sampson Technical Institute. This marked a significant step in establishing a locally focused educational institution. Later that same year, in October, it embraced its current identity as Sampson Community College, reflecting its deep commitment to the community it serves. Under the leadership of President Cameron Pippin, SCC continues its legacy of empowering students and strengthening the local workforce.
