San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC), established in 1926, stands as a cornerstone of accessible higher education in its region. From its humble beginnings as San Bernardino Junior College in 1926, initially split between San Bernardino High School and Colton High School with just 140 students, SBVC has undergone remarkable growth. Over the decades, it has evolved into a comprehensive institution with a robust budget and a dedicated faculty and staff. Its expansive district covers nearly 500 square miles, highlighting its significant reach and commitment to serving multiple communities and high school districts.

A standout academic strength is SBVC's innovative partnership with Middle College High School (MCHS). Designed in 2001, MCHS is a specialized alternative high school located directly north of the SBVC campus. It uniquely focuses on dual enrollment for underserved, underprepared, and traditionally underrepresented populations. Through this program, MCHS scholars concurrently enroll at both MCHS and SBVC, enabling them to earn significant college units and even Associate of Arts Degrees by the time they complete their high school diploma. This initiative truly embodies the college's vision of preparing every scholar for success in a four-year college, career, leadership, and life.
