San Bernardino Valley College

San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) stands as a foundational institution in its region, living up to its inspiring motto, "Your future starts here." As a vibrant community college, SBVC caters to a diverse and expansive student body, currently serving over 17,044 students with a commitment to academic excellence and real-world preparation. The roots of SBVC stretch back to 1926, when it was established as San Bernardino Junior College. What began modestly with just 140 students, initially operating from campuses split between San Bernardino High School and Colton High School, has blossomed into a comprehensive educational powerhouse. This impressive growth reflects a long-standing dedication to expanding access to quality education, transforming from a small junior college into a dynamic institution serving a vast district spanning nearly 500 square miles.

One of SBVC's standout academic strengths and a testament to its innovative approach is the Middle College High School (MCHS) at SBVC. Designed in 2001 as a unique partnership with the San Bernardino City Unified School District, MCHS offers an exceptional dual enrollment program. This specialized high school specifically targets high-potential but underserved, underprepared, and traditionally underrepresented students, enabling them to gain a significant head start on their college education.

Students at MCHS are concurrently enrolled at both the high school and SBVC, empowering them to earn substantial college credits and, for many, even an Associate's Degree by the time they graduate high school. This extraordinary opportunity not only fast-tracks their academic journey but also instills confidence and a clear vision for their future.
