The college boasts a rich history, tracing its roots back to 1935 when it first opened as Stockton Junior College, a division of the College of the Pacific. Over the years, it evolved significantly, changing its name to Stockton College in 1948 and eventually becoming a fully separate community college district in 1963, proudly adopting the name San Joaquin Delta College. A significant milestone occurred in 1972 when San Joaquin Delta College relocated to its expansive 165-acre campus.
