Sandhills Community College

Sandhills Community College stands as a beacon of local dedication, a public institution born from the determined efforts of Moore County citizens in 1963. This commitment was solidified with a community-approved $1 million bond issue and a generous 180-acre land donation, ensuring a strong foundation for future generations. From its initial classes held in temporary Southern Pines locations, the college quickly blossomed into a permanent campus, ingeniously designed with courtyards and windows inspired by beloved local landmarks.

Today, Sandhills Community College thrives as a hub of learning for approximately 4,000 students, embodying its inspiring motto: "Learn • Engage • Belong."
