Seattle Pacific University

Nestled in the vibrant city of Seattle, Seattle Pacific University has fostered a unique educational experience since its founding in 1891. Guided by its motto, "Engaging the Culture, Changing the World," SPU began as a seminary focused on training missionaries and has evolved into a comprehensive private university. It serves a student body of over 2,100, aiming to equip individuals to make a meaningful impact in their communities and professions.

Over its long history, Seattle Pacific has continually adapted. From its early days as the "Ross Seminary" to its current status as a doctoral-degree granting institution, it has grown with the city it calls home. The university's journey includes significant milestones, like the completion of its first permanent building in 1893, and shifts in its identity reflected through various name changes culminating in Seattle Pacific University in 1977.

In recent years, SPU has navigated complex challenges, including discussions around its hiring practices and subsequent legal inquiries.
