South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) is a dynamic hub for over 4,200 students seeking to launch or advance their careers in the vibrant South Puget Sound region. The college's rich history began in 1962 as the Olympia Vocational Technical Institute (OVTI), an initiative by the Olympia school board to expand adult education opportunities. What started with a vision to widen educational access quickly grew, expanding technical training to 14 fields by 1966. Its transformation into a comprehensive community college truly began with the Community College Act of 1967, leading to its renaming as Olympia Technical Community College (OTCC) in 1976 and ultimately South Puget Sound Community College in 1984, reflecting its progressive growth and broader mission.
