Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College

Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) stands as a vital educational cornerstone for its region, celebrated for its unique journey from specialized trade instruction to a comprehensive community college. Today, SKYCTC proudly offers a broad spectrum of academic opportunities, including the coveted Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees, alongside robust technical training pathways. The college's rich history began in 1939 as the Western Trade School, initially under the umbrella of Western Kentucky State Teachers College. This foundational period laid the groundwork for practical, skills-based education. In 1962, the institution achieved independence from WKU, marking a significant step towards its self-defined future. After undergoing a couple of name changes, it joined the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) in 1997, evolving into Bowling Green Technical College.

A pivotal moment arrived on December 7, 2012, when the KCTCS Board of Regents approved its transformation into Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College. This renaming officially recognized its comprehensive scope, affirmed by its accreditor, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, which granted approval to award Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees.
