Southeast Arkansas College

Southeast Arkansas College (SEARK) stands as a vital public community college dedicated to its powerful motto: "Changing lives...one student at a time." With a current student body of 1,842, SEARK offers an accessible and supportive environment for individuals pursuing their educational and career aspirations. Under the leadership of President Steven Bloomberg, the college continues its legacy of empowering students for success in Southeast Arkansas and beyond.

SEARK's roots run deep, tracing back to September 21, 1959, when it first opened its doors as the Arkansas Vocational-Technical School. This pioneering institution was the first of its kind in Arkansas, established to directly address the needs of industry, create jobs, and elevate the standard of living for the state's citizens. Over the decades, the college evolved, initially known as Pines Vocational-Technical School, before a pivotal legislative act in 1991 transformed it into Pines Technical College, aligning it with higher education.

The journey continued with a name change to Southeast Arkansas Technical College in 1996, better reflecting its regional service. By July 8, 1998, the institution proudly became Southeast Arkansas College, solidifying its identity as a comprehensive community college. This rich history underscores SEARK's enduring commitment to providing practical, relevant education, making it a cornerstone for professional development and community advancement in the region.
