SEARK's rich history dates back to its origins as the Arkansas Vocational-Technical School, which began offering postsecondary programs on September 21, 1959. It proudly holds the distinction of being the first vocational-technical school in Arkansas, established to meet the evolving needs of industry and improve the standard of living for Arkansan citizens. Over the decades, the institution evolved, transitioning from Pines Vocational-Technical School to Pines Technical College in 1991, following a significant re-designation by the state.
This evolution continued, with the college embracing its regional identity by becoming Southeast Arkansas Technical College in 1996, and finally Southeast Arkansas College in 1998. This progression underscores its adaptability and commitment to providing comprehensive educational pathways.
