Southeast Community College (SCC) stands as a pillar of vocational and technical education in Southeast Nebraska, dedicated to equipping students with the skills needed for thriving careers. Established in 1973 as Southeast Technical Community College, it was born from a vision to create accessible technical training pathways across the state, being one of eight such colleges approved by the Nebraska State Legislature in 1971. This historical foundation underscores SCC's enduring commitment to workforce development.

From its early days operating in rented spaces across Lincoln, Milford, and Fairbury, SCC quickly grew, opening a significant campus in Beatrice in 1976 and its first permanent building by 1979. This commitment to expansion and consolidation saw the Fairbury campus merge with Beatrice in 1986, centralizing resources to better serve its growing student body and faculty. These strategic developments highlight SCC's adaptive growth and dedication to providing relevant educational facilities.

Today, SCC is renowned for its innovative approach to education, fostering strong community ties and expanding learning opportunities. A prime example is the Career Academy, a landmark collaboration with Lincoln Public Schools launched in 2015, which offers high school students invaluable dual-credit courses right on the main campus. Furthermore, SCC continues to break down geographical barriers with its network of rural Learning Centers, beginning with Plattsmouth in 2016, ensuring that quality technical education is within reach for communities across the region.
