Southwestern Christian College

Southwestern Christian College (SwCC) offers a distinctive educational experience rooted in faith and a rich historical legacy. Established in 1948 as the Southern Bible Institute in Fort Worth, the college embarked on a journey that would lead it to its unique campus in Terrell, Texas, in 1949. Since then, SwCC has grown into an accredited institution known for its commitment to academic excellence and spiritual development within a supportive community.

The college's campus is steeped in history, notably featuring the remarkably preserved "Round House." This octagonal-shaped dwelling, designed for defense against Indian attacks, was the first house erected in Terrell and boasted the first glass windows in Kaufman County. It stands today as one of only 20 surviving Round Houses in the entire nation, offering a tangible link to Texas's frontier past. SwCC also boasts a remarkable leadership history, highlighted by Jack Evans Sr., who served an incredible 50 years as president from 1967 to 2017, making him one of the longest-serving college presidents in U.S. higher education.

SwCC received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1973, a testament to its academic rigor and dedication to student success. Today, the college proudly offers both associate and bachelor's degrees, preparing students for diverse callings and professions through a curriculum that emphasizes both intellectual and spiritual growth. The current president is Ervin D. Seamster Jr., continuing the college's legacy of leadership.
