The dedication to establishing a permanent home culminated in the opening of the flagship Ammerman campus in Selden in 1962, transforming a former sanatorium into a vibrant learning environment. This initial expansion laid the groundwork for the comprehensive institution it is today.

By 1977, SCCC had further expanded its reach, establishing additional campuses in Riverhead and Brentwood. This multi-campus structure ensures that educational opportunities are conveniently available throughout Suffolk County, catering to the needs of its diverse communities. The Ammerman campus, situated on a sprawling 555-acre suburban setting, offers a robust academic atmosphere.
