Suffolk County Community College

Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) stands as a vital pillar of education within the State University of New York (SUNY) system, deeply rooted in the vibrant communities of Suffolk County. The college's rich history began in 1959, largely due to the tireless efforts of Albert Ammerman, who served as its president until 1983. Starting with a modest 13 faculty members and just 171 full-time students across temporary high school locations, SCCC quickly grew. By 1962, it established its foundational Ammerman campus in Selden, converting a historic sanatorium into a hub of learning, symbolizing its commitment to transforming spaces and lives.

Today, SCCC has expanded its reach dramatically, operating three main campuses in Selden, Brentwood, and Riverhead, alongside a satellite center in downtown Riverhead. This multi-campus structure ensures convenient access to education for a broad spectrum of students across the county. With a robust academic staff, including 463 full-time and 1,510 adjunct faculty, SCCC supports a thriving undergraduate population of over 26,000, fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment for all.
