Tacoma Community College

Tacoma Community College (TCC) has been a cornerstone of education in the Tacoma area since its founding in 1965. As a public community college, TCC is dedicated to providing accessible and high-quality education, catering to a diverse student body with an average age of 28. The journey of TCC began with voter authorization in 1962, leading to its opening in the fall of 1965. A significant early milestone was the naming of the Pearl A. Wanamaker Library in 1966, honoring a distinguished guest. TCC holds accreditation from the esteemed Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), a testament to its commitment to educational excellence and continuous improvement. This long-standing institution has served nearly half a million students since its inception, marking a profound impact on the region's workforce and intellectual landscape.

TCC stands out for its comprehensive academic offerings, encompassing 43 associate degree programs, 33 professional and technical certificates, and a robust selection of 46 state-approved vocational and technical programs. These career-focused programs boast an impressive 86% placement rate for students entering their chosen fields, based on 2009/2010 data, highlighting TCC's effectiveness in preparing students for the job market. Beyond associate degrees, TCC also offers three bachelor's degree programs in critical areas such as Health Information Management, Community Health, and Applied Management, providing pathways for advanced study.
