Taylor University

Nestled in Upland, Indiana, Taylor University stands as a beacon of evangelical Christian education, boasting a rich history that spans over 180 years. Established in 1846, it proudly holds the distinction of being one of the oldest institutions of its kind in the United States. Taylor University's journey began humbly in 1846 as Fort Wayne Female College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, initially serving around 100 women. Pioneering coeducation, the institution began admitting men in 1850, subsequently changing its name to Fort Wayne College. A significant turning point arrived in 1890 when the college acquired new facilities and was proudly renamed Taylor University, honoring the esteemed Bishop William Taylor, solidifying its commitment to its evolving mission in higher education.

Today, Taylor University offers a comprehensive educational experience, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and affiliated with prestigious organizations like the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities and the Christian College Consortium. With a student body of 2,221, the university provides a small-town campus environment sprawling across 952 acres, including a significant arboretum. Students engage in a vibrant campus life, including 16 men's and women's sports teams competing in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), fostering leadership, teamwork, and spiritual growth.
