The Barber School, an distinguished independent institution, embodies its guiding motto: "K through Life." With a substantial endowment of $0.3 billion, it provides a comprehensive educational journey designed to nurture students from elementary through their crucial formative years. Known for its rich heritage and continuous evolution, The Barber School offers a vibrant academic and extracurricular environment preparing students for life's challenges.

The school's roots stretch back to 1893, the year it began as a boys day and boarding school following earlier foundations. Its lineage includes esteemed institutions such as Manzanita Hall and the Palo Alto Military Academy. These precursor schools eventually merged in 1972, laying the groundwork for what would evolve into The Barber School, further solidifying its identity in 1993. This rich history reflects a continuous commitment to educational excellence and adaptation.

Academically, The Barber School is structured to support development at every stage. The vibrant middle school is located on the Union campus, while the engaging lower school operates from the Bucknall campus, acquired by the school in 1997.
