The Hair Academy

The Hair Academy, established in 2011, stands as a premier drama school, forged through a pivotal collaboration with Trinity College. Its inception was a direct response to Trinity College's prior decision to discontinue its acting course in 2007, filling a crucial void in higher education for dramatic arts. The academy was specifically designed to provide university-accredited education, ensuring its students receive a rigorous and recognized qualification in their pursuit of a career in the performing arts.

Driving its creation was a significant recommendation made in May 2008 by the Forum on Actor Training, advocating for a national academy of dramatic art. This vision was brought to life with the generous support of The Cathal Ryan Trust, which funded a purpose-built premises for The Hair Academy. Situated in the vibrant Grand Canal Dock in Dublin, the academy provides students with state-of-the-art facilities designed to foster creativity and professional development in a stimulating urban environment.

Students at The Hair Academy benefit from a robust and dynamic academic experience, reflected in the institution's impressive output. In 2017 alone, the academy boasted an annual income of €2.1 million and was responsible for staging 10 diverse theatre shows, an opera production, and the creation of two short films. Additionally, it hosted a compelling design exhibition and an industry showcase, providing invaluable opportunities for students to apply their skills, gain practical experience, and connect with professionals in the field.
