Founded in 1950 as Birdwood Junior College, this institution has undergone remarkable growth and evolution. What began with just nine students and a connection to the Primitive Baptist Church, steadily expanded its vision. By 1979, it became a non-sectarian, independent private college, ultimately offering its first four-year degree in 1988. This journey culminated in 2000 with its recognition as Thomas University, signifying its transition to a comprehensive institution capable of awarding graduate degrees.

Today, Thomas University stands as a testament to its commitment to academic excellence and student well-being. The campus boasts state-of-the-art facilities like Smith-Bonvillian Hall, opened in 2013, which houses modern classrooms and faculty offices designed to enhance the learning experience.
