Trocaire College

Nestled in a rich history, Trocaire College stands as a private junior college dedicated to cultivating both professional achievement and personal purpose. Founded in 1958 by the Sisters of Mercy as Sancta Maria College, its roots are deeply intertwined with a commitment to service and compassion. The college's very name, 'Trocaire,' is the Irish word for 'mercy,' a heartfelt homage to its founders who originated in Dublin, Ireland.

Initially established to train women of the order, Trocaire College has evolved significantly over the decades. It opened its doors to laywomen in 1965 and became fully co-educational in 1972, demonstrating a progressive spirit and a welcoming environment for all. Today, with 1104 students, it maintains a focused, supportive community where individuals are empowered to pursue meaningful careers and lead lives of purpose.

While focused on its unique mission, Trocaire College has also been an active participant in the broader educational landscape. In recent years, it notably engaged in a cooperative agreement with Medaille University, even purchasing buildings from them and exploring an acquisition. Though the acquisition was ultimately called off, these events highlight Trocaire's dynamic presence and its commitment to growth and collaboration within the higher education sector.
